Experience I've been in the 3D/2D CAD industry for over 10 yrs. & also had the opportunity/exposure to work with several mainstream design platforms including Helix Design Systems to Land Desktop.
I am working with .dwg's in which the title blocks (borders) are xrefs. This is being done so that the drawings share information in the border that is common (job tile, revision level, etc).
My question is: if i need to edit the titleblock (xref)information in a particular drawing can I do so without the editing affecting the xref itself?
I have one drawing that needs to be added to the drawing set but it will be a "new" drawing, so the revision level must lower than the rest of the drawing package. In other words, is there a way to modify the title block information (or any other xref info) without changing the xref itself but rather for one new drawing only?
Thanks,
Dan
Answer Hey Dan, i have 2 solutions to your question.
First, you can 'Bind' the xref (titleblock) into the dwg. This will insert the titleblock as a block, removing the linkage to the main titleblock (xrefed) dwg. of your root project directory. Edit the rev. level.
Second option is to keep the titleblock xrefed, use 'Wipeout' just enough to cover the revision level number. This will act like a cloak hiding anything under it. Then just create an exact 'Text' (rev. number), superimpose it on top of the wipeout object. Turn off wipeout frame....pretty simple. Hope this helps, let me know!
