AutoCAD/File size

Question
I'm working with autocad-light for quite a while, but it just recently started to save simple drawings into immense filesizes.
purging the drawings didn't help, and I currently have the 2006 version installed and work only with 2D buildingplans.
These weird file-sizes slow down my work by a great deal. How can I get these drawings to a normal size again?

Answer
Peter,

Try wblocking the objects you think you're only going to use so it strips out any unreferenced objects and entities. Additionally, just use more of blocks & xrefs in your drawings more often - hopefully this will somewhat improve your dwg size & performance issues. Let me know!
