AutoCAD/Where's that Font?

Question
Bob,
Not too long ago, my hard disk drive crashed and had to be replaced; along with, of course my operating system (Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade, Version 2002; with Service Pack 2 downloaded from the Microsoft website), and my other programs.  I am using AutoCAD LT 98.  Before I had to replace the hard drive, I was using the font called "Dotum" as my standard font for CAD drawings, but now I can neither find it in the font list within the CAD program, nor in the font list of any other of the programs that I have thought to check.  Will you please tell me what I need to do to get "Dotum" back into my AutoCAD LT 98 font list?

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Gary Skinner

Answer
Hi Gary!

I am pretty mystified why someone is using software that is seven or eight years old, when 2006 LT is fairly cheap and twice as fast -- but I get surprised how some people's work fits the old ways, at least as far as they see it.

I hope you will understand that there is not really time for me to figure out how fonts were handled then so I can tell you, but, simply, you added the non-standard font once, and must add it again.

If you find where the fonts are stored in AutoCAD14 (LT98), you can obtain the font elsewhere and copy it into that place, in general. Maybe someone you know uses the font.

I put the font name into Google- it seems to be a Korean font. Find it on the internet, download it, drag it to (my guess) PROGRAM FILES >> ACADLT98 >> SUPPORT >> FONTS -- JUST POKE AROUND UNTIL YOU FIND IT

Or look in a store for a book on Acad 14 or LT98, which should be the same, and read where fonts are stored, if you get lost.

Or go to Autodesk.com >> products AutoCADLT, look for discusssion groups, and post the question.

Sometimes the best I can do is point you in a good direction, and trust you will get there.  Good Luck.
