AutoCAD/Graphics Cards

Question
Bob do you have any thoughts on GeForce cards vs the 3d Labs cards. I have read in a weblog by Shaan Hurly that the GeForce cards are not good for ADT. A friend of mine tells me that the 3d Labs only make their cards for cad. I have a GeForce and I get a lot of crashes with my system. Do you know of a way to test my graphics card.
Cheers Dermot

Answer
Hi Dermot:
I am not the expert on this. I am going to suggest the Autodesk Discussion groups for Hardware and for your release of ADT. Also Augi.com, and Cadence, Cadalyst, and maybe PC magazines websites.
My own feeling is that if you have a recent system with a god card, the crashes tend to come from inadequate memory (512 totally bites with ADT 2004 and 2005), panning with shaded viewports, and (sorry) poor wall clean-ups and other dwg errors. If you do not have 1024 ram, and your present card is decent, increase the ram first.
Let me know the result.
