Question
Hallo dear friend,

I've just bought a HP Designjet 500 42'' Plloter and I need add it to Acad 2000.
The Plotter is connected lpt1 and it is working properly with all my Win XP Programms, Photoshop e.t.c. except Autocad 2000 (which is the most important for my work). when i try to add in acad2000 plotter Manager it is giving " runtime error " ((( program files\autocad2000\addplwiz.exe. Abnormarmal program termination)))i have downloaded latest driver also. still same.please help me if u know.
Thanks..

Answer
Hi -- This is probably an IT question, not really AutoCAD, but I will try.
HP plotters are extremely easy to configure, so I am afraid you are doing something wrong. Go carefully back through the HELP on plotters and see if you can find what it is. On modern releases, the add-a-plotter wizard stops you and tells you to conigure DesignJets in Windows, but you must have done this to get the Photoshop to work--  perhaps you made an error there.

Your HP dealer should fix this for you.  Lacking that: frankly, since you are on AutoCAD 2000 still, I am wondering if your computer is modern. Low memory maybe?

Sorry, this is about what I know. All I would do is re-read everything and re-try. If the plotter people will not help you, write back, and I will ask around. Or >> simply go to Autodesk.com and navigate to the printing/plotting discussion group, which is what I would do for you.
Good luck.

I am good at helping Architects and Interior Designers who are intimidated by Autocad, ADT, etc. to feel comfortable, get things done. If you are in another field, I will do what I can for you. PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS TO QUESTIONER-- MOST DON'T FOLLOW THEM, AND IT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO ANSWER WELL-- THANKS
