AutoCAD/Hidden Lines in Paper Space

Question
Ok, I didn't word the question very well, sorry!  I was referring to 'Dashed' or 'Hidden' linetypes in model space not showing up in paper space when I use viewports...the lines will show up dotted or dashed in model space but then when I begin working in paper space with viewports the dotted lines become solid.  How can I fix this?

The text above is a follow-up to ...

-----Question-----
In model space I will have a variety of different types of hidden lines that can be seen on the screen and when I print from model space.  When I begin to work in paper space, the hidden lines do not show up on the screen or when I print.  How do I get them to show up in paper space if they are showing up model space?
-----Answer-----
This sounds like a 3-D question because the hidden lines don't sound like hidden linetypes.
If the object is a paper space object (meaning not in a model space viewport), then you have to uncheck the box in the plot dialog that says "hide paper space objects".  If, however it is an object in a model space viewport within a layout, then with the viewport active, you need to set SHADEMODE to 2-D or 3-D wireframe in order to see the lines at the rear of the object that would normally be hidden by surfaces in front.

Hope this helps

Answer
OK, well similar things can cause that.  Set SHADEMODE to 2D wireframe.  Any other setting in the viewport will cause the problem.

Another thing that can cause the problem is a new system variable called PSLTSCALE.  Toggle the setting: 0 OR 1 and see if there is a difference.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
