Question
I've been attempting to simply insert two image files (jpegs) into a layout by opening them with another program (firefox, paint, etc.) copying the image, and pasting it into the page.  Now, this seems to work with the one image, and seemingly with the second at least initially--the image appears in the layout but the image which is on the screen doesn't plot.  Similarly, the one image disappears after I save and reopen the file, leaving a white box where the image would be.  I've tried several different formats (.png, .bmp,) but nothing seems to stick even though all files are in the same folder.  The other image seems to be no trouble at all and plots fine.  I'm just confused as to why the one file works, but not the other.  Any ideas?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
When working with images, it's always best to save them to the working folder (the folder in which you are working on the drawing).  Then use the IMAGE command to start the image manager.  From then on, it's just like using the XREF manager.  The image is referenced within your drawing and loads it anew everytime you open it.  It will search withing the path you save when you attach the image.  You can often (not always) click on an image in Internet Explorer and SAVEAS to get a copy of it on your computer.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
