AutoCAD/Layer Manager error AutoCAD Architecture 2008

Question
QUESTION: Hi Bill
After installing Architecture 2008, I keep getting a Microsoft.NET Framework error message every time I pick Layer manager. Message reads:
"Unhandled exception has occured in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue." "Input string not in correct format" I press continue and the controls works as it should. I reloaded the software but the error message is still there. Any suggestions?

ANSWER: Tony:  At this point, I would recommend that you download the latest version of Microsoft.Net Framework and then uninstall and then install the latest version.  Then, see if you're getting the same error.  Also, you didn't tell me what version of Windows you are running.  Would I be correct in assuming you are running Windows XP Pro?

QUESTION: Bill,
I downloaded the latest version of Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0. Still did not resolve the problem. Seems to be some sort of profile issue. By the way, I am running XP Pro.

Answer
So, therefore it still tells you you have a Microsoft .NET Framwork error?
I think you're going to need to do a repair install now that you've uninstalled and reinstalled Micorosft .NET framework with the latest version.  You're aware of how to do that right?  Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs / find AA2008 / CHANGE / REPAIR / REPAIR.
Don't just do the registry.  Do the whole reinstall.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
