AutoCAD/Layer Order

Question
How do you i get the layer names to display in the correct order?, i'm using Autocad in conjunction with an add on design programme (timber frame) which has its own layers already in it as part of this software.
Having copied a layout drawing that i created from a previous standard version of Autocad, into this, ive found that my layers won't display in the correct order unless i select name evertime i open the layer property box, i've excluded the default software layers from showing, by using the layer filter, as this software generates hundreds of layers as part of the timber frame design process.

Autocad (2004) seems to be refusing to recognise the layer names of my imported drawing & theirfore won't put them in either alphabeticle or numerical order, Is their a solution to this, many thanks

Answer
Hi -- guessing you are in Canada or some other former Dominion by the spelling, lol.
First, this may be a problem caused by the add-on, and better solved by someone familiar with it, such as a user group or online support.  It may also be that there is an easy answer in AutoCAD that I am forgetting.
I dont understand what you are copying a drawing into, or why you are copying it.  If you are using Acad 2004 with the add-on, don't you just open the original drawing in AutoCAD and see the menus or toolbars of the add-on? And do you mean "a drawing that includes layouts I have made"? -- I dont recognize the term "layout drawing"-- or maybe you mean a rough drawing. Are you WBLOCKing it in??

The more I think about it, the more I think a user experienced with that software, or the firm itself, should be able to tell you the proper proceedure. It may be a quirk of the add-on that your layers will be messed up alphabetically, it may be how you copied it, or it may be some other error.
If you cannot get a good solution from them, I suggest you post your question in the AutoCAD 2004 Discussion Group at Autodesk.com-- or maybe the 2006 group, which gets more people now.
Good luck -- sorry I cant take the time today to sleuth it all out for you.
