AutoCAD/Layer Properties Manager

Question
I have encountered problem I hope you can solve...I think it is a setting issue ....when I click on the "layer properties manager" nothing happens.  '_layer comes up at the command line and unless I hit escape the computer just makes a bong sound and neither shows me the layer properties dialogue box nor allows me to do anything else. I have tried typing in layer properties on the command line, but nothing I do will let me look at the dialogue box.  This was working fine..and then just stopped.  I think the problem is with the ' sign that is in front. I have tried typing in .layer and that does not work either. To my knowledge I have not been working in a program or making any changes that would have caused this.  Help!  Thanks.

Marsha:

I think you need to to a repair reinstallaion.  Put the original installation disk in the CD Drive and cancel out of the installation that may start automatically.  Then go to the control panel and then to Add/Remove programs.  Click on Change.  Then Reinstall or Repair and then Repair installation.  Repair Installations are quite common with AutoCAD 2006, unfortunately.  Sometimes it's helpful just to copy all the files on the disk to some place on the hard drive.  Then the repair reinstallation no longer requires the disk in the drive.

Let me know how it goes

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
