AutoCAD/Layer States

Question
AutoCAD 2000
Have you ever seen a drawing with several layouts and different layer states in each layout that suddenly opens with all the layers thawed, on, and reverted back to the original colors in the xref'd drawings without warning?
I have no idea why this has happened unexpectedly 3 times in the past month.
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Elizabeth, do you use the view command to define new views. This is also used to save current layer settings in conjuction to the created view. By setting this user defined view current, you might be reverting back to the previously saved layers. Next time when creating view, ensure to uncheck tick on 'Store Current Layer Settings with View'. Hope this helps, let me know.
