Question
If I have a drawing with say 10 layers (A to J), and I want to view a particular combination, say only layers A,B,E,F in a view, how can I save the view as well as the layer combination?

What has been happening, is if I save a view (say View1) with layers A,B,E,F on, at some point later on, if I have all layers on, and select View1, then I get View1 with all the layers on.

I guess what I want is to have not only a specific view saved, but the actual layer combination that the view was saved as. I'm using ACAD 2006.

Answer
Sorry, I just have a minute this morning.
A--I don't use Views, so I would have to look that up.
B--However, I do use viewports -- and what you want is very easy with Layouts. Since you are presumably going to print anyhow, why not set up layouts with layers frozen as needed?
(again, sorry, time crunch, but I would guess the Maximize Viewport button in the Status Bar would honor the layer settings for the VP, when you want to work in MS -- I never work in viewports the old way anymore -- try it out.
C--If you look up LAYER STATES in HELP-- you can set them up and switch to the one you want -- I believe you can specify them when saving  views.

BUT-- at least for architecture and interiors, which is what I know, I would not set up Views, but layouts.

I hope this helps -- reply if it does not, and tell me what you are drawing.
