AutoCAD/Learning at Home

Question
Bob,
I have been involved in the construction industry most of my life (I'm 55).I am employed as a construction manager at a local college. After begging and pleading, the college finally licensed my computer with Autocad 2005.I bought a book, I'm learning, and most important I'm having a blast. Heres my dilemma, there are only so many hours I can devote to Autocad in any given week, I need to know if there is any way I can work at home without purchasing another copy of Autocad. The 30 day free trial would not be enough time for me to grasp all the information I need. It takes a  little longer to teach an old dog new tricks. I've only been active on a computer for 2 years.
Thank You,
Gunther

Answer
Hi -- sorry for the delay.  I was 54 when I started the computer and AutoCAD.
You MUST understand drafting completely for AutoCAD to be learnable in reasonable time, and you must understand MS Windows very well. If you dont, get some help, or you are wasting half your AutoCAD time, like I did. Maybe take clsses and get comfortable in some simple programs.
Your IT Dept might be able to check this -- the AutoCAD licensing for the school may allow Instructor off-site use, or you might be able to get an extra Instructor copy from a teacher.  Possibly you can use the downloadable student software.

Good luck
