AutoCAD/Loss of subscripts when pasting AutoCAD drawings into Word
Expert: J. B. Borge - 4/20/2006
QuestionI use Auto CAD LT 2002 for producing drawings of engineering parts. For some of the dimensions I have to overide the text to achieve subscripts. For example, to achieve ØD4 with the 4 as a subscript I type ØD\U+2084 in the overide text box. On the Auto CAD drawing the '4' comes out ok as a subscript. I am required to 'copy' or copy link' and then 'paste' or 'paste special' the Auto CAD drawing into a Word document. When I do this the subscript is lost and I end up with ØD4. I have tried saving the drawing as a 'WMF' or 'gif' and the subscripts are preserved but the drawing quality/clarity is not so good.
Is there a default I can use to achieve the result I require?

AnswerMike, try embedding DWF's instead in your MS document. You will need to install the DWF viewer in your computer, if you havent yet.
1. Create a DWF out from the Autocad drawing.
2. Open the Word doc, select Insert/Object... from the pull down menu. Under the 'Create New' tab, select 'Autodesk DWF Viewer Control'; select 'OK'. A DWF object & a little toolbar should've appeared in your Word doc.
3. Right click on the DWF object -> Autodesk DWF..Object/Properties. Map to location of the DWF you created earlier. Click 'OK'.
4. Click the Icon on the little toolbar (Control Toolbox) that appeared, in order to 'Exit Design Mode'. The DWF object should update to a crisp vector (zoom/pan/print) image.
FYI, this also applies to MS Excel & Power Point. Hope this helps, let me know!
