AutoCAD and its verticals are designed to be used with the Microsoft Intellimouse line of mice.  There are lots of cool mice out there, but they are a pain in the neck to get to work with AutoCAD.  Try this:  Uninstall your mouse software that came with the mouse you bought and change the driver for it to the Microsoft Wheel mouse that came with Windows.  That SHOULD make it work.  Apart from that, make sure MBUTTONPAN is set to 1.  Also, I don't recommend wireless mice for AutoCAD.  They hesitate a little bit when drawing (just a little) and they always need batteries.  I'm very happy with my Microsoft Intellimouse Optical (with wire).  It has two buttons on it that can be used for other things.  In my case, one is the delete key and the other is F9 (turns snap on and off).  My boss makes us draw on snap (it's annoying to say the least).  With PICKFIRST set to 1, you can use the delete key to erase objects.
OK?  So, Mouse 1.0 first lesson:  Use Intellimouse
(No I don't have any stock in Microsoft)

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
