AutoCAD/Menu's are missing
Expert: Bob - 10/12/2004
QuestionBob, sorry to bug you again, but I could not get those missing drop down menus back. I removed the program then reinstalled in and they came back. I tried to use the program the next day and they disappeared again. Some of the menus are the Help and Desktop. I typed menu and loaded each of the files there, but none of them had the missing menus. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
Eddie

Some of my menus in ADT Version 2 are gone. There are atleast 5 that are not there anymore. Some of them are Desktop,Help and Windows. Do you know how I can get them back? Let me know if you need any other info.

Hi Mark--
To retreive missing menus in any form of AutoCAD, type in MENULOAD. In the case of ADT, you will have ACAD menus and (I forget name for ADT menus but it will be obvious) and will need to go to both. They don't go away unless you have altered something, normally.
Did you try typing MENU into HELP? Not that I mind replying, but this should all be there, pretty standard, and saved your waiting for me.
I just HAVE to say that ADT2 was a horrible turd, merely the original ADT modified due to upgrade of Acad from 14 to 2000. If you are using it heavily for work, you might be wasting perhaps 20% of your time in comparison to 2004 or 2005-- now the program is manageable to use. To me, R2 is only acceptable software if you are doing very very simple things, and not full time. Pardon me if your circumstances make it necessary to stay on ADT2, but I am not exaggerating.

HI Mark: Get Mastering Autodesk ADT 2004 by Paul Aubin (most of the 2005 changes are in the AutoCAD , and the New Features Workshop in ADT will get the rest.) I commonly see this in Borders Books, etc.
I suggest you get a good AutoCAD 2005 book too, or at the least, look on Autodesk.com and elsewhere for the free tutorials etc. If there is someone like me avaialble, where you are, hire him to come over and watch you use AutoCAD, and make you try out the updated interface. The software moves on, but users tend to stick to old methods, and ignore newer, quicker ways.
Be sure to check the box, during installation, which allows you to have an icon on the desktop for straight Acad 2005. too.
Good luck!

Did you try MENULOAD? not MENU--
Sorry, just have minute right now, but maybe the answer is that you have a bad copy of ADT2 -- is it a real one? If not, I cannot help you. If stuff disappears overnight, it is due to other programs or add-ons, so get rid of them -- AutoCAD does not change by itself.
