AutoCAD/Multiple Layer

Question
Good day, is there a easier way of creating multiple new layers having the same properties as its source. Like layer "a" will have the same properties as layer "a1", layer "b" as layer "b1", and so forth. Because i will need to create 23layers of "a", 23layers of "b". doing it one at time would take us a very long time. Any help will be much appreciated.

Answer
Hi -
Well, you are not telling me the AutoCAD release, but, in recent releases--
-- open the Layer Manager
-- create layer a by selecting a layer it should resemble, and click the New Layer button, rename, adjust any properties.
-- then select a, hit the button 22 times, resulting in 22 copies of a, each of which you must rename  (easier to rename as you create,  while a1, a2, etc are selected).
-- then do b

I would imagine this should take 5 minutes, unless the names are long and unique, which might be 10 minutes or so.  Was the problem that you thought you had to set the properties from scratch on each?  The newest layer will be a copy of whatever layer is hightlighted.

Does this do it?
