AutoCAD/Multiple points
Expert: Bob - 10/11/2007
QuestionHi,
I'm a basic user, mainly employing AutoCAD (2005) for a part of my masters thesis in cognitive science.
The thing I want to do is plot numerous of polygons from x,y-coordinates. Now, I'm doing everything manually by using the multiple point command, and entering each point seperately, after which I connect them with a polyline.
My question is thus - Is there anyway that I can read several x,y-coordinates from a file (e.g. txt), so that AutoCAD automatically generates the nodes of a polygon?
Given that I'm dealing with literally hundreds of polygons (each one consisting of 15-30 nodes), it would speed up my work tremendously.
AnswerHi -- I posted this in the AutoCAD 2005 discussion for you.
You are WAY away from anything I understand: I do Architecture and interiors -- so let's see if someone there can help.
You can also use the Search feature, or look to see if there is another Autodesk group closer to your need. Points are more for the old fashioned way of doing land contours, or at least that is the only place I have seen them.
Good luck -- someone there ought to be able to tell you if there is a quick way, so keep checking back.

_________Someone sent me this question -- totally not my field, and perhaps something better done in other software, but this is what he has.
Anyone have a good answer for him? It sounds pretty complicated to automate, but what do I know?
Thanks
you.
