Question -
Inserted new layout to an existing drawing, rename it, went to the page setup manager for setup. That done, went to 'view' for a new view port in paper space.  After insert the new viewport, found that nothing appeared from the drawing in model space.  The view port shows, but nothing is visiable.  Return to model space and everything is as should be.  Why am I not seeing any of the drawing that is in model space?  Thanks in advance.  John.

Answer -
John:
With system variable PICKFIRST set to one, click on the viewport and get the grips showing.  Then, open the Properties Palette, find the MISC category and click on ON, then on yes or no.  It should say YES.  Turning the viewport on makes the objects in Model Space visible.  Then, inside the viewport do a zoom extents.  Then zoom window to the part of model space you want to see in your viewport.

That didn't work.  Now what?

Answer
Send the drawing to me at bdeshawn@sterling.net.  I'm going to have to take a look at it before I make any more recommendations.  Remember to paste the text of this message in your message to me to remind me of the problem you are having.  Also, let me know what version of AutoCAD or vertical product you are running.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
