AutoCAD/Paper Space problems
Expert: Bob - 10/27/2007
QuestionAUTOCAD 2007, windows XP, Expert since release 13. space planning, fire alarm & security systems. my title blocks are created as "blocks" in paper space. NOT included in this block are the break lines for viewports, text in title block that tells you FIRST FLOOR, SECOND, ETC. I will save the dwg perfect, then re-open. After the lisp's load, it will say "please wait; formatting text" on the very, very bottom of the screen. (BELOW the command line) The dwg will not continue to load until i hit the ESC button. At this point, all the things that i created in paper space (except the title block) has now been "cut" from PSPACE. & "pasted" at 0,0,0 in MSPACE. ALSO, if a polygonal viewport was created, the viewport line is no longer visible & although all layers are on, there is no way of selecting the viewport. I have to completely re-do the layout everytime. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AnswerSorry, I thought I had answered, but I must have started to and not finished.
You may not love my reply, but it is based on experience. Espcially when I see "Expert since release 13" -- I am going to suspect old, migrated customization. Unfortunately, Autodesk created so much ill will with 13 and many years of arrogance, that many of the longtime users tuned them out, dont pay much attention to advances when moving to a new release, etc.
I am one who moved to tool palettes and some very minor customization. For instance, it is easy to place a tool in a palette to draw a rectangle on layer ABC in color X etc.
I would bet money your problem is something in customization or a third party application. The fact that you are seeing an automated process make changes sounds like lisp to me. (unless your computer sold its soul to the devil)
Unload all of it and see what you get. Then try them back one at a time. That is the standard advice. You might post to the Autolisp group in Autodesk Discussions, and someone will recognize what you did wrong -- but sorry, it is not me.
