AutoCAD/Plotting in "filename.plt" format

Question
I hope that somebody can help me. I was given a cad drawing in .plt format;however, the file can only be plotted from DOS. My plotter can only print D-size drawings, but the file itself is E-size. When I type the command "copy filename.plt LPT1" from the DOS prompt, only half of the drawing is plotted out. And since I am unable to see the drawing, how can I plot the other half? The CAD nerd that I work with says that there has to be a way to accomplish this, but I think we may have to bring it to someone who has an E-size plotter. HELP!

Answer
Hi -- sorry I replied twice already, but the server kicked it.
Whoever gave you a .plt file, rather than the AutoCAD file, or a dwf., is either sleeping, or not interested in having you get the information.Plt files are NOT means of transmitting AutoCAD information, at least not in my world.

If they only will send a .plt, give them your plotter info and have them plot it to your plotter, and send you that file -- or take what you have to a reprographer.
I came late to CAD -- dont even really understand how DOS would help, but I am good at finding correct solutions.
I hope this helps.
