AutoCAD/Polyline widths
Expert: Bob - 6/23/2005
QuestionI'm using ACAD 2002. I've drawn a thick polyline in model space (3.5) with a phantom line. The file is then xref'd to another file and when I go to paper space the line is only shown as an outline. In paper space the line is within a viewport that I didn't create. When I plot, the line is just an outline and not filled in. HELP, please...
AnswerHi -- I will try to help you.
First, please be careful of your terms - the pl you drew is WIDE (thick refers to the Z dimension of lines, so one can create phony 3D walls by making a line 8' thick)
I am going to tell you to draw the pl over again in the layout (paper space) at an appropriate scale. It is probably not filling because the viewport has "hide" checked (pardon me, I am on 2006 - it may be "hidden" on 2002). If there is no reason to hide anything in the view, change that setting (right-click on the vp).
You may also notice that some heavy fonts print as outlines.
If you must plot hidden, draw the line in layout (paper) space.
OR>>IS IT THIS? (FROM HELP)-- If you are on the same machine, and no one has messed with it, the problem is not the fill mode.
To turn the display of solid fill on or off
Click Tools menu Options.
In the Options dialog box, Display tab, under Display Performance, select Apply Solid Fill.
A check mark indicates that Fill mode is on.
Click OK.
To display your changes, click View menu Regen.
I hope this leads you to a solution.
