Question
What projector specifications are required to be able to project my architectural desktop to a wall say 8 ft away...big enough and with enough brightness and resolution to work with clients in a fairly well lit office?  Or where can I get such information, to give me the knowledge to buy a projector intelligently first try?

Answer
Greg--
You need to ask an expert in presentations by projector-- there may be some on the website.
Sorry, I did not just want to check one of the boxes and shine you on, but this is an IT person question, not having anything to do with AutoCAD, and I do not happen to know the answer.
All I can say is that you might need to change your background color on the machine you are using for better results, and you need lots of ram if you intend to show shaded views of a large project.
Actually, you might be better to make dwfs and/or jpgs and screen those.  You do not say if it is just plans, or 3D models in ADT, whether you want to show jpgs of hand renderings too -- if its 3D, panning in shaded views with <756 ram will be slow and the audience lost. If you are intending to do work in front of them, not just shown the project (you do not say) then run ADT or Autocad.
I would not really demo anything on a screen, personally, in a room where I did not have some control of the lighting, as it is hard to hold attention to  the screen. This is from my experience in teaching and in selling.
Also, you probably need a large LCD or plasma for a lighted room -- anything with front projection has to wash out -- I hope that convinces you to move to a conference room with light switches--lol.
