Question
Question   Autocad 2007 locks up when I purge a drawing. How can I fix the problem? I tried to audit the drawing but there were no errors. It still locks up during the purge.

Answer
THIS WAS AN INTELLIGENT REPLY, BASED ON WHAT YOU GAVE ME, WHICH CONTAINED NO FACTS, REALLY.

I THINK YOU WERE QUITE RUDE TO RETALIATE WITH YOUR VERY MEAN FEEDBACK

YOU MIGHT CONSIDER THAT I DO THIS ONLY TO BE HELPFUL, AND FOR THE SATISFACTION OF THAT

Hi -- let's see if I can help, but you gave very limited information (as if there were a magic answer  which I could tell you.for all freezing.)

First guess -- low system resources and a stubborn problem in the drawing. With crashing or freezing, you must give your computer specs, before computer issues can be ruled out.
A corny way of saying it === AutoCAD freezes when solving a problem is too hard for it, or would take it more computing power than is available. Or it just freezes because you asked it to do something it cannot do.

Also - you dont say...
WHY you need to keep trying to purge it.
Whether you can purge some categories individually, but it freezes when you try to purge (for instance) blocks.
Whether you created the dwg, or got it from elsewhere.
Size of the file (and relationship of that size to normal comparable files in your office)
Whether there are xrefs involved.

Did you try using WBLOCK to take what you need to a new drawing, leaving the mystery behind????

Let me know if I can help more.
