AutoCAD/Rendering

Question
Iam having problems scaling materials for rendering. I am using jpg/bmp pictures as materials which works fine when i use the fit to obect selection in the adjust bitmap section, but when i use the fixed scale selection i cant seem to get a decent result. I have adjusted both scaling and object scaling but only through trial and error with no joy! I am drawing warehouses with steelwork and draw in 1:1 scale in model space. I would appreciate any help you can give me as this is driving me mad.

Cheers!

Answer
Hi David --
I must change my blurb describing what I do, as people keep sending me questions without giving the AutoCAD release they are using, and without really enough background about themselves and their work to help me be precise.

However, on rendering, I am not going to be much help anyhow, except to tell you there are lots of books, and good discussion groups to be found at Autodesk.com and AUGI.com. I have not rendered more than a couple of times this year, if that.

Rendering in AutoCAD is not the best- few people who render a lot use it any more-- they go for Viz, Accurender, Max, etc. If you are on a recent release, you can print shaded views, which helps. I always preferred a quick hand render to AutoCAD render, as it is easy to include depth and highlight what you want -- often a partial render is more engaging to the eye than the heavy looking AutoCAD render.

Good luck.

I am good at helping Architects and Interior Designers who are intimidated by Autocad, ADT, etc. to feel comfortable, get things done. If you are in another field, I will do what I can for you. PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS TO QUESTIONER-- MOST DON'T FOLLOW THEM, AND IT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO ANSWER WELL-- THANKS
