Question
WHEN OPENING A FILE USING THE "SELECT FILE" DIALOGUE BOX, HOW CAN I HAVE IT DEFAULT TO THE LAST FILE OPENED INSTEAD OF TO THE TOP OF THE ORDER FILE...I AM USING 2005 MECHANICAL...ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Answer
Marcos:
If you have the REMEMBERFOLDERS system variable set to 1, that will put you in the right folder to search in.  That is all that AutoCAD will do for you except for one thing.  In the FILES pull-down on the upper left of your AutoCAD screen, click on Files.  The menu will expand downward and you can then see at least four files that you worked on most recently.  The most recent will be on top.  You can increase the list size to a maximum of 9 if desired.  Click on Tools (or Format);Options.  Look at File Open (Number of most recently used files to LIST) and edit if desired.  Checking the box that says, "Display full path in title" makes it easier to verify that you have opened the right drawing after it is opened.  With the OPEN dialog box, you can click on HISTORY and click on MODIFIED bar twice to list the files opened in descending order from the top with the most recently opened file at the very top.
This is all that AutoCAD offers.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
