Question
i am having a problem in scaling my drawing in layout.  I have one sheet wherein i have 3 scales for different drawings. How can i scale a drawing in a layout? i browsed a lot of websites discussing about scaling factor. One of the formula is:
xpvalue=1000/scale required

so ive tried one of my scale which is 1:20 which is 50xp
so i zoom the drawing and scale it to 50xp. after doing it.. one detail of a kitchen sink accomodates the whole 30x40 inch of paper..
What's the problem?i need help... thank you so much...

Answer
Kristine,

Personally, i think the easiest way to scale dwgs in viewports is to use the 'Viewport' toolbar. Also, gives you a visual to what scale is the current viewport is in. To enable, type 'customize' & select 'Toolbars' tab. Select 'ACAD' under the Menu Group & enable/check 'Viewports' under Toolbars. Now go to your layout & activate a viewport by double clicking on it. Look at the Viewport toolbar, fly out the viewport scale ctrl & set to one of defaults or specify to what ever you desire. Double click out of the viewport to end the process.

Hope this helps, just let me know if you require add'l assistance.

Regards,
J.B.
