The text above is a follow-up to ...

-----Question-----
How can I get the scroll button on my mouse to zoom?  I am using LT/2000
-----Answer-----
HI-- sorry, you win the prize for oldest software asked about.  I hope you are sticking with that one because you do extremely simple work. Otherwise I find the interface improvements since 1999 to be terrific. (pls excuse sermon, but I hate to see people using the old stuff without mentioning they should check to see if an update will help.)
NOW to answer your question:
1- NORMALLY, this problem is solved by going to Control Panel and adjusting the mouse settings. Nothing to do with AutoCAD at all. Dont ask why, but ofter the settings look right, but messing with them and clicking apply seems to solve the problem. I have had that in classrooms.
If it was working before (you dont say) and stopped without you doing something like step 2 below -- 100% it is the mouse setting, nothing at all to do with AutoCAD.
2 -Sometimes the scroll zoom is not there because you have changed a setting in ACAD -- (sorry, the oldest AutoCAD I have is 2006, so this may be a little off)-- TOOL>>OPTIONS -- and then go to the tabs marked User preferences and selection, and try checking and unchecking boxes. ALSO put ZOOM into HELP and see what you can find.
If this does not help you, write back and I will find an old book, but I believe this has not changed.

Not working, but thanks anyway!

Answer
hi -- please do not make me nuts with that kind of reply

be kind enough to say what you did and answer the questions I posed by indicating you did not say some things

again -- 90% of the time I see this the problem is mouse software, 10% YOU changed a setting
Never anything else for this very very common issue
