AutoCAD/About TIF formats

QuestionI am not using CAD(don't even know what that is) but hope you can help anyway.I am using a program called Photo Explosion by Kodak. I have created a color business card with a photo & logo for a friend who lives in another state. I have saved the card in a TIF format(as the printer said they needed to print the cards). In order to get it to my friend so he can use the image for the clearest results... will I have to mail it on a CD to him, or can I email it to him where it will remain in a TIF format where he can transfer to save on a useable CD for the printer? If you don't know, please direct me to the correct category here so I can get the answer. thanks.
AnswerTina, typically a tiff format is a universal raster file format which means just about any computer can open this file. however, tiff also comes in many levels of compression. the higher the compression, the smaller the file size (but degrades the overall resolution). so in essence, there's a trade off. you can email the file as an attachment but it also depends on your max quota of your email client. this is typically around 5-10mb. so as long as the file is not larger than 5mb, you can send file thru email. saves you a lot of time & not to mention the shipping charges!
Additionally, instead of using tiff, next time use *.gif or *.png format. both formats are already compressed. hope this helps!
