AutoCAD/Text Plotting Outside of Viewports
Expert: Bill DeShawn - 8/28/2007
QuestionQUESTION: I am having trouble with text printing outside of my viewports. I have read elsewhere that this was a problem with older versions of AutoCAD and having to get a plotter patch. I have also read that this could be a font issue. I am using AutoCAD 06 and I am pretty well versed in 2-D AutoCAD. Any help you can give is much appreciated. Thanks
ANSWER: Walter: Your viewports: Are they in a layout or are they Model-Space viewports made with the VPORT command? If in a layout, is the text completely visible or only partially visible within the viewport?. What is the brand/model of your plotter? Does the unwanted text show up in your preview? Just trying to get a better picture of the problem. Also, I'm trying to get some newsgroup help on this one.

QUESTION: The viewports are in a layout. The text is completely visible and does not show up in the preview mode. My plotter is an HP 9800. Another thing is that this problem only occurs on the inside of the viewport, side of the viewport that is closest to the edge of the paper has the opposite problem, the text gets cut off about a quarter of an inch from the side of the viewport, but nothing else does. The page I am setting up is a 12 x 18 sheet size and the viewports are about half the page. The weird thing is that it doesn't happen if I print it through a pdf writer
AnswerWalter: Send me the drawing at bdeshawn@gbcarch.com. We can print 12x18 there. Also, where are you located?
It's been over a week now, and I have not heard from Walter again. This question remains unresolved.
on 9-3-07: I don't know if this will resolve the question, but there is a possible solution: Check your PC3 settings and select Lines Overwrite as Opposed to Lines Merge and see if that gets rid of it. Also, somebody mentioned the "Plot Paperspace Last" checkbox. Toggle that one to see if it help you out.
