Question HI This may me a simple question to ask but since upgrading to Architectural desktop 2008 from 2004 I am having problems when I start a drawing. I start with my template which basically inserts my drawing border and all of the layers & blocks I use and it always starts in imperial and scale 1:1 and i need it to be metric and 1:100 so this mean changing the units & dim scale every time I start a drawing. I have checked the units & scale in my template and these are correct.
I hope this makes sense, any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Phil
Answer Sorry, started to answer the other day and had a crash.
This is very troublesome to me....
I start with my template which basically inserts my drawing border and all of the layers & blocks I use.
I HOPE you are using INSERT when you mean CONTAINS.
And of course "drawing borders" are TITLEBLOCKS and belong in layouts. A recently made template would include all the layouts (or sheets) you typically use, or, better, use the Sheet Set Manager to insert sheets and set up your drawing.
If your template is properly set up for the current release, you should have no problems. Of course, all those blocks should be in tool palettes, since 2004 -- if you are using an update of some old system that puts all the blocks into each dwg via a template, may I please suggest it is time to stop and learn the value of the improvements in the releases of recent years.
So. in short, my suspicion is that you are like many, who got very turned off to Autodesk a few releases back, married their own habits, and stopped taking the time to learn the new features as they come along.
(and please pardon me if I guess wrong -- that is the best from the clues you gave.)
My bottom line is that AutoCAD is not messing with your scale, etc, but you have done something that you need to go back and fix. I wonder if it is as simple as your having inadvertently installed to suit Imperial?????????
