AutoCAD/View Port Properties

Question
Is it possible to set layer properties by view port?
Think of a document with 3 view ports.  The first VP is an element at full scale.  The second VP is a zoomed in section of the element, and the third VP is a detail of the zoomed in piece.
I want each view port to have different line weights for the same object.  For instance, in the first VP I want (lets say a circle for practical purposes) a circle to be a LW of 1, the second view port to have that same object at a thicker LW scale, and the third VP to have that object at yet another line thickness.
Any suggestions?  Thanks, KMW

Answer
The only layer properties that you can set by viewport are those accessible through the VPLAYER command.  So, that's pretty much just FREEZE & THAW.  No other layer properties are available that way.  The only way you can vary light weight when you zoom in is my making a polyline of a certain width that will look wider when you zoom in.  Sorry I don't have better news.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
