Question
I receive this error message each time I open Acad2008 drawing, even after reinstalling it.
"Menu item failed to load: ACAD:&File"
what am I missing, what causes this error message....I seem to be able to continue drafting...

Answer
Hi, Darlene.  I need a little more information.  Is your menu loaded and working with all the File, Edit, Format, Window, Express, Help on top?

Hey, Darlene, I found something of interest today:
This issue occurs because the msxml3.dll file has been unregistered.

To register this file in Windows
It could be the problem:

On the Start menu (Windows), click Run.
In the Run dialog box, enter regsvr32 msxml3.dll and click OK.
Restart AutoCAD.  Give that a try and see if that works.  Since your error msg. is a little different from the one decribed in the knowledge base, I don't have full confidence that it will work.  Please let me know.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
