Expert: Bob - 12/26/2007
QuestionHi Bob, I have been using r-14 for years and very happy with the program. Do to recent events(I have had 2 strokes) My memory is not what it was. I do have to re-learn some of the skills that had. No sense in relearning r-14 because it is so out of date and the way that 2004 lt responds to my some what compromised motor skills this is the the software I have chosen to relearn. My question is in regards to where is the pgp file exists. In r- 14 it was easy to access it but now I have no idea where it exists. I need to make command shortcuts because of my newly realized handicap. Please get back with me if there are any other questions. Thankyou so very much, Mitch
AnswerMitch --good for you for working to overcome your situation.
I wish you had indicated the type and extent of your work, so I could write with more precision.
I don't have anything older than 2006 on my machine -- and the entire customization story changed with 2006 -- so I am having to go with a bit of conjecture on 2004:
1-- what do you get when you type < keyboard shortcut> into HELP?? In 2006, it gives a clear reply: the method is drag and drop now.
2-- if you are going to use 2004, I HIGHLY SUGGEST you get a book and study it, to make sure you are taking advantage of it, and not missing a lot by trying to use it as R14.
3-- also -- put this into Google, and see the choices you get <autocad 2004 customization>
NOW, if I may be so pushy, I STRONGLY ASK you (unless you are doing very very simple tasks) to review the online information on 2008LT, and consider spending the upgrade money (900 -- upgrades only availble from 2005, but perhaps Autodesk will make a deal due to your disablility) -- then learn the new one, as long as you are learning.
One capability of 2008 alone, automatic scaling of dimensions and annotation, is worth the price to many users.

Again, not knowing your work, I only guess. I have a problem with hand/eye coordination, so the recent additions, such as
-- tool palettes, dynamic input, all the modify commands for an object being in the right click menus, better plotting, on and on.
Really help me.
Sorry I did not answer simply. If you just want what you asked, and HELP doesnt do it. please write back, and I will look it up for you tomorrow, when I have more time.
