AutoCAD - change company name on DWG

Expert: Scott Cook - 12/13/2006

Question
I hope you can shine some light on this because it will make my task ahead much easier. I am dealing with Autocad 2000. One company has bought out another and now wants to change the name on all dwg's to reflect that. I don't seem to be able to edit this company logo without exploding, if I do then all the attributes in the title block are gone, part#, date, designer name...ect. Is their an easy way to change this without recreating a whole new format or reinventing the wheel? It seems like the long way home to have to put in a new format and fill out all those feilds again on hundreds of prints. Would appreciate any help on this one. Thanks, Patrick

Answer
you can redefine the block and the attributes of currently-inserted blocks will remain the same - only the graphics (lines, etc) will change.
-insert oldblockname=newblockname should do the trick. you don't actually continue with the whole insert, after you have done that cancel out and regen the drawing.
