Question
I am trying to cut & paste from one drawing to another (tooling/machine detail)and it will not re-scale after I finish. I am going from metric to english but I have not experianced this before. I am using AutoCad 2006 version software, could you assit me?

Answer
Tim:
Sure, I'll help you.  First tell me if you are running a vertical product of AutoCAD like perhaps Autodesk Architectural desktop or AutoCAD Mechanical.  Or are you running plain vanilla AutoCAD?  I'm asking about this because there are scaling parameters that can be set to scale objects from other drawings in these programs.  Another thing that can be causing this is a reactor.  A reactor  can be part of a drawing that when it sees the insertion of a drawing, it puts it in at a particular scale and no other.  It kind of changes how commands work.  If you could send me a copy of the drawing to bdeshawn@sterling.net, I could look at it and give a better recommendation.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
