AutoCAD/ACAD 2008 installation problem in windows profissonal
Expert: Bill DeShawn - 11/2/2007
QuestionQUESTION: When I am drawing a line, how do I us the deg/min/sec.
For example: S89*23'04"E 200.08'
How would I create a line using the example information?
ANSWER: Madhava:
1. Set your units to "Surveyors' Units."
2. When drawing a line, instead of line;(click to start line);@200.08<270
Type this in its place:
line: (click to start line); @200.08<S89d23'04"E
(or whatever value you require.) But that's rhe format:
("@"distance "<", "S" "N" "E" or "W", A number representing the angle in degrees, d to separate degrees from minutes, a value for minutes, single quotation mark to end minutes entry, a value for seconds, double quotes to end seconds entry. Then "S" "N" "E" or "W" again as required.

error name is:
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.create an association in the folder options control panel.
so,please send answer to install autocad2008 in windows prof.NT.

ANSWER: Madhava:
Off the top of my head, I have no answer, other than try uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that still happens. In the meantime, I have posted a "cry for help" message on the Autodesk newsgroups on your behalf. One thing that might help is to tell me EXACTLY what version of Windows you are using. At the top of your message you say you are using Windows XP. There, I assume you are using Windows XP Home because you say it is not Professional. At the bottom of your message you say you are using Windows NT Professional. This is an unsupported version of Windows and needs to be at least Windows XP Home, but Windows XP Pro is preferred.
Until I find out more (if possible), get back to me about the operating system, and I'll keep checking the newsgroup for answers.

QUESTION: Sir,thanks for given opportunities for sharing knowledge from yours.
Once again I repeat my equation.
I was install AutoCAD2008 in windowsXP (at myhome PC)
But not install AutoCAD2008 in windows2000 professional (at office)
when i pick to start acad icon, then the error dialogbox displayed.
error name is:
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.create an association in the folder options control panel.
so,please send answer to install autocad2008 in windows2000 professional.NT.
Thanking you
AnswerI've spoken to a gentleman by the name of Dean Saadallah, who says that it appeared to him that possibly the installation was not done correctly. That is assuming that the ACAD icon you are talking about is the shortcut that AutoCAD leaves on your desktop. If, on the other hand, the icon you are talking about is a DWG file in Windows Explorer, then right click on that icon, scroll down to "OPEN WITH", and associate Autodesk AutoCAD 2008 or ACAD.EXE, with the DWG files. I checked on the Autodesk website for compatible operating systems. The two operating systems you mention are supported in AutoCAD 2008: Microsoft® Windows Vista™, Windows® XP Home and Professional (SP2), Windows® 2000 (SP4)
Make sure your Windows 2000 is updated to Service Pack 4, before reinstalling.
