AutoCAD/'filter' command

Question
Hello Mr. DeShawn,
I am using AutCAD 2005, and would like to ask you if you had a chance to use in Select Filter drop down list such filter criteria as "Attribute Tag" to filter blocks having certain tag name specified. I've tried it but it always return 0.
Could you tell me where I can find a good source describing the work of 'filter' command in details
showing proper way of using different filter criteria.
I'd appreciate if you could answer my question.

Michael

Answer

There was quite a lengthy discussion on the filter command here:

I hope it helps.  I have always avoided this issue like the plague.  I prefer qselect and SSX.LSP.  SSX is actually my favorite.  But it's a matter of personal preference, I'm sure.  Filter is much more powerful, and even QSELECT is.  My needs are simpler that that, so SSX suits me just fine.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
