AutoCAD/fonts

Question
Aloha from Hawaii,

I am using AutoCAD 2006. My employer wants me to use a font which was not included with the program. I asked another draftsman to send me the font, which he did via email. But now I am not sure how to get the font "into" AutoCAD so that I can use it.My fellow draftsperson sent me seven files total: archstyl.shx, ARCHISEL.SHX, BOLD.SHX, architxt.shx, ARCHQUIK.SHX, ARCHTITL.SHX, ARCHTXT.SHX.I'm also not sure why he sent me seven files. Are all of these needed to use the font, or are they all separate fonts? And how do I get the font(s) "into" AutoCAD so that I can select it and use it in drawings?

Thanks!

Aloha.
I use the same fonts.  I place them in a folder I reserve for special fonts.  C:\SPECFONT  Then I include that folder in the Support File Search Path.  Then I get out of AutoCAD and get back into it and voilá.

Let me know if you need an explanation of how to include another folder in the Support File Search Path.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
