AutoCAD/hardware for autocad

Question
Hi. I just started studying interior design and need to use autocad (will be using autocad 2007 for now, as the school is providing it), I have a pentium IV, 1.9 GHz, 512 RAM (no idea of the graphic card). Is this enough? Do I need to upgrade? or get another pc? Also I'll be using XP for the time being.

Answer
Hi --- Good luck, you are fine, for now. Not for 2D AutoCAD, but for Photoshop and Illustrator, get another 512 ram (cheap). Later, if you do a lot of 3D drawing, particulary studio classes with rendering, it will be a little slow, but should be OK. So think about a new one in a year or two.
Meanwhile, the way to learn AutoCAD is to study hard, dont make up too many ideas on your own, then start designing in it.
You will get there.

I am good at helping Architects and Interior Designers who are intimidated by Autocad, ADT, etc. to feel comfortable, get things done. If you are in another field, I will do what I can for you. PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS TO QUESTIONER-- MOST DON'T FOLLOW THEM, AND IT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO ANSWER WELL-- THANKS
