Hello Bill

The question is not with the printing. The image in AutoCad or pasted into Word appears as stepped lines. In both applications it prints fine. The problem is if you are trying to say create a presentation electronically the line appears as small steps. Just doesnt look good. I tried screen resolution but no improvement.

Hello Bill

AutoCad 2002
When drawing a line at say 5 degrees it appears on the screen as a bunch of smaller stepped lines. The image prints as a smooth straight line. However when trying to use this image for a Powerpoint or Word Document presentation the image is not smooth. How can I improve the resolution or smoothness of this image?

Best Regards

Mike

The best I have been able to do is by printing with "PublishToWeb JPG" or "PublishToWeb PNG".  Either one works as well as the other, apparently.  In Word, you can Insert a Picture From File.

Answer
OK.  I see what you mean.  I don't know if this would work, but, I think that in this case, it may help to have a large monitor when you create the JPG file to import it.  Then, possibly when you import it into PWRPNT, it will have to be scaled down by stretching the image from the corner.  If you make your presentation from a laptop at a conference table, it would be better, but if you project the image to a large screen, well, there isn't anything that I can tell you that will make that image look better.  Unfortunately, there are still some things in life we have to live with and this may be one of them.  I tried some things myself here with a 5 degree line both in WORD and in PWRPNT and got the pretty much the same results as you, but having a smaller image seemed to be the key on straightness of the line.  So, create the line image as big as possible and shrink it down as much as you can for the presentation.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
