AutoCAD/logitech wheel zoom = choppy / jagged

Question
I've recently upgraded my keyboard + mouse to the LogicTech DiNOVO desktop which offers bluetooth connectivity. Great keyboard / great mouse.

HOWEVER! Now whenever I zoom something is happening woth the software that does a zoom + pan simultaenously and what happend is the zoom is very cumbersome + seemingly inaccurate. When I open a drawing the zoom works fine, at some point however the glith takes over and I can no longer zoom in control. I have to close the drawing + re-open it. I thought perhaps it had to do with the LARGE files I'm working with, but it does it on simple block drawings as well. Its very irritating.

can you offer any advice?

-thank you in advance!

Answer
I have three thoughts on Logitech Mice

1.  Program the wheel as "Middle Button"

2.  Use Microsoft Intellimouse (Wheel Mouse) Drivers with Logitech Mouse.

3.  Take it back and ALWAYS buy Microsoft Optical Intellimouse (preferable wired) for use with AutoCAD and vertical products.

Note:  The Autodesk Discussion Group for digitizers is about 30% full of problems with Logitech mice.

If it's cheaper than Microsoft, buy it and put Microsoft drivers on.  Otherwise, as far as I can tell, AutoCAD's requirements are not met by Logitech's drivers, so therefore for CAD use it is a bad investment.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
