Question
I am an interior designer. I have been using versions of CAD for 6-7 years. I am using AutoCAD LT 2006.

I have been working with an architecture firm on this project. I have been using their files as base drawings. My problem is, when I try to copy and paste an updated piece of their drawing into my drawing, it reverts to an old version (i.e. it is not what I copied in the first place). Please help!

Answer
Hi -- I am an Interior Designer, too.
I just have a minute -- but....
Something you are doing is wrong, as you can tell.
Rather than worrying about how to fix the copy/paste, you should ALWAYS be drawing over an XREF of any drawing that might update. It is very easy to update the Xref -- in your case, when their dwg changes, I would probably save my work under the current name and saveas "Jones file May 21", then detach the old xref, attach the new version. (that way you have a record of each old version, dont destroy it.)
You can read up on this in any AutoCAD book, many online tutorials, etc. Copy/paste is an old, crude, way.
Not knowing your CAD knowledge, that is the basics  -- just make yourself learn this -- it is not hard.
Good Luck
