Question
QUESTION: When I double click on an object, the properties tool palette apears, but it has no information in it.  It is completly blank.  Any ideas on how to fix this?  Is the palette some how lost?  If so, how do i recover it?

ANSWER: If you use a registry cleaner, or if you have McAfee VirusScan and it cleans your registry for you, then you need to do a repair reinstall.  Do the Repair Registry reinstallation option from the Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs.  You will need your Installation disk handy.

If that doesn't cover it, write again and will try and think of something else.

Another symptom that accompanies the one you describe is the WSCOMMCTR gives you an error msg. at startup.

QUESTION: Thanks for the response.  I also encountered the error message you spoke of wscommcter at startup.  What does this message mean?  The error/problems all acured after I had norton anti-virus installed.  Could this be part of the problem?

Answer
Yes, I think it's Norton, especially if there is a registry cleaner as part of the package.  Turn off the registry cleaner, if possible.  If not possible, get rid of Norton and get something else.  McAfee does the same thing.  Don't use that either.  Use something simple like AVG from Grisoft.  I recommend the paid version.  Just reemember that if you use a registry cleaner, it will attack AutoCAD.  You will have to do a registry repair installation after using the registry cleaner.  The combination of symptoms is a dead-giveaway.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
