Question
I have autodesk 2006 installed over autocad 2004. Now I wish I had autocad 2004 back. How can I delete autodesk. I know I have to save my files as 2004 files first. Will I have to reinstall 2004?

Answer
The file format of an AutoCAD 2006 drawing is the same as that of an AutoCAD 2004 document.  If you uninstalled AutoCAD 2004 from your computer, you must reinstall.  If you did not, then there is not any need to reinstall, unless you are experiencing problems.
I have been using AutoCAD 2006 for a while now, and yes, there are a lot of new things to get used to.  First and most important are the new menus.  You will eventually have to come to grips with those, because the system is here to stay.  Windows is changing and Windows vista will eventually not support AutoCAD 2004.  Your best bet is to make the best of the new software.  If you refuse to change, you will be left in the dust:  The thing that hits the hardest is your employability.  Stay up-to-date in as many areas of CAD as you can and you will a sought-after drafter.  (it rhymes, but unintentionally)

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
