Question
Hi
How can I draw an elliptical shaped rod,or a rod which dose not have any regular path(I mean not stright or arced.)
thanks

Answer
Create your ellipse first.  Then with the UCS command, create a new UCS at 90 degrees from the current Y axis.  Use 3DORBIT to change the view of your ellipse.  Make a polyline to represent approximate path of elliptical solid and start it from the CENTER of the ellipse.  PEDIT the polyline so that it becomes a SPLINED polyline. With the EXTRUDE command, Select the Ellipse and then type _P for path and then select the splined polyline to extrude the ellipse along the path of the splined polyline.  If SHADEMODE is set for 2-D wireframe, you won't be able to see anything except a single line, but if SHADEMODE is set to anything else you will be able to see the results.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
