Expert: <font color=#6b238e>J. </font><font color=#ff7f00>B. </font><font color=#0000ff>Borge</font> - 1/10/2007

Question
I imported a file sent to me as an iges.  It is a surface model and I want to know if there is an easy way to change it from a surface to a solid model?

Answer
Bob,

Not possible in Autocad. However, inventor or solidworks are able to recognize surfaces and automatically converts them to solids. Then the plug-ins are able to recognize the features (extrusions, fillets, etc.) & recreates them in the feature tree for further/future mods.
