How do you switch a drawings primary dimensions from metric to english(standard)?I am using autocad 2005.

Robert,

This all depends if the object/entities was drawn in milimeters. This is typical if this was drawin in a different platform other than Autocad. If so, you need to scale down all objects to .039369 in order to convert to inches. If the objects were already drawn in inches but the dimensions are indicated in milimeters, then you need to modify your Dimension Style Manager thru 'ddim' command & make sure the 'Multiplier' is set to 1.
