Question
hi, I have a pretty good understanding of architectural desktop (i'm an architectural designer)...

my colleage and i have recently lost the window in the bottom left hand corner of the ADT 2006 workspace, the one where you see dimensions when you type them in and where you see results of distance and area inquiries (usually in the form Y: 0.002 X: 23300.3123 Z: 2342 etc etc etc)

Answer
FOLLOW UP--
Just in case you mean you accidentally closed the Command Window-- (bottom left corner meant the co-ordinate display to me.  Again, straight of Google_________Try to press the key combination Ctrl+9 (or enter the _COMMANDLINE command) - it is possible that you have previously switched off your commandline window.
If you pushed it offscren, temporarily increase Windows screen resolution, and drag it back.
