Hey Bob, I'm wondering if there's an easy way
to switch back & forth from English to Metric
units while in the same drawing. I change the
"format units" dialog box setting but it seems
to have no effect on the drawing (if the drawing
was started with Metric units it won't change)

Hi -- sorry the website  does not remind you to give the release of AutoCAD you are using.
Are you saying that if you change the units, then type in , say 6, when drawing a line, it stays with 6mm, even though you wanted 6 inches, etc.?
I am presuming you don't really mean back and forth, but from/to, as I can't think of a reason right now, or maybe it is just late.
Have you tried copying and pasting into a new drawing which has the unit setup you want? That ought to take care of it.
Otherwise read everything you can in HELP concerning units,  to see what has been in your way. If still stuck, write back.
